Healing Circle
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told us: “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” In an ongoing effort to reach out to members of our parish community who have lost a loved one, we are inviting you to attend “The Healing Circle”. It is meant for those who have experienced the loss of a beloved family member or friend. Grief has no timetable and no set rules; everyone grieves differently, and one never fully “gets over it.” We do ask that you wait three months after experiencing a bereavement before joining this program.
Sometimes sharing thoughts and concerns with others who are walking the same road can be very consoling. It reminds us that we are not alone in our struggle to find meaning in life. We hope that those who have suffered a bereavement will find a safe space to share - or to be quiet - to listen or to be heard. Bringing our sadness to our Lord in prayer can often be very comforting.
We will be offering advice and suggestions for ways to cope with some of the problems and strong emotions that often plague those who have lost a loved one. Expectations from family and friends can sometimes be very upsetting. We will also offer suggestions for coping during the upcoming holidays and for meaningful ways to remember our loved ones.
“The Healing Circle” will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the worship space. Subsequent meetings are: Nov. 5, Nov. 19, Dec. 3, Dec. 17, Jan. 7, Jan. 21 and Feb. 4. To register or if you have any questions or concerns, please call Lisa Gorton at the parish office (804) 639-6712 or stop by the parish offices. There is also a sign-up sheet on the Adult Formation Table in the Commons. The group will be limited in size, so please don’t delay.
Whether or not you choose to join us, we pray that our Dear Lord will comfort you and help you heal.
