Pastoral Council Purpose

Purpose

The Pastoral Council is an association of members appointed by the Pastor and ex-officio members designated by the Pastor bound by diocesan policy, for the purpose of assisting the Pastor in establishing parish priorities and pastoral direction. Pastoral Council exists to provide a forum for communication, to encourage and facilitate participation and opportunities in the areas of worship, education, service, spiritual formation, leadership, ecumenism, community building and outreach activities. This is accomplished by challenging the church community to become more caring and involved. The Pastoral Council joins with the Pastor in developing long-range goals, short-term objectives and periodic evaluation of the parish vision statement while encouraging and implementing input received from the parish community. Pastoral Council as a body is accountable to the parishioners, the Pastor and the Diocesan officials for their decisions.
