Confirmation Peer Application
Confirmation Peer Leader Information and Application
Thank-you for your interest in serving as a peer leader for the Confirmation Preparation program! The peer leaders are an integral part of the program. Therefore, it is important to discern if you have the time to devote to helping the next class of Confirmandi through the preparation program. If selected, you will be expected to attend training and retreat planning meetings beginning in August/September, monthly class sessions beginning in September, the Retreat (Nov. 30- Dec. 2, 2018), the Confirmation Mass and the Mystagogia session after the Confirmation Mass. Additionally, all peer leaders are required to be trained in a Liturgical Ministry (Prayer Leader, Minister of Communion, Minister of the Word, Usher or Music Minister) and serve a minimum of two (2) Youth Masses between September 2018-June 2019. Youth Masses will rotate to all three (3) Mass times (Sat. 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, 9 or 11 a.m.) on a monthly basis.
You must commit to the following:
1. Active Ministry participation in the monthly Youth Mass (minimum of 2 Masses)
2. Training and Retreat Planning Session
3. All Class sessions (9/11, 10/9 & 23, 11/13, 12/11, 1/8 & 22, 2/12, 3/12, 4/9 and 5/14)
4. Nov. 30 - Dec. 2 Parish Sponsored Retreat
5. Confirmation Mass - scheduled by the Diocese between Ash Wednesday and Pentecost
6. Mystagogia - scheduled after the Confirmation Mass
Monthly Confirmation Sessions will be the SECOND Tuesday of the month (starting Sept. 11 through May 7) from 6-8:30 p.m., the retreat will be from 2:45 p.m. on Friday through Sunday at 2 p.m. There will be a second class in October on the 23rd and possibly a second class in January to accommodate changes required by the Diocese of Richmond. Because we have so few sessions with the Confirmandi, it is imperative that the peer leaders be present and prepared for each class session. If you think you have the time, energy and interest in serving as a peer leader, please complete the application below by June 27. If you have any questions please contact Carole Peters in the office at 639-6712.
